What It's Like to Work Here
Sunflour is a bakery, not a reheat kitchen. Everything we sell is made onsite in small batches from raw ingredients, with no mixes, no shortcuts, and no pre-made anything. We don't use artificial flavorings, preservatives, dough conditioners, or bleached flour. That's a promise to our customers, and it's also the reason the people who work here get to learn a real craft instead of pressing a button.
It does mean early mornings. It also means all five stores open at 7:00 and close at 4:00, seven days a week. There's no dinner rush, no closing shift that runs past eleven, and no coming home after the rest of your house has gone to bed. For a lot of our staff, that one detail is why they left restaurant work and came to us.
The Parrish family has owned Sunflour since 2014, and they're right here in Charlotte. We're not a chain and we're not a franchise, so the decisions about your store, your schedule, and your next step get made by people you can actually go find. Our team rotates between the five bakeries to keep the products consistent, which means you learn more than one room and get to know more than one crew.
What You Get
The things about this job that our team tells us actually matter.
All five stores run 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. No dinner service, no late close, and no closing at eleven then opening at six.
Croissants, scratch breads, layer cakes, espresso. Every bit of it is made in our kitchens, so it's learned in our kitchens too.
Elizabeth, Dilworth, Ballantyne, Harrisburg, and NoDa. Apply to whichever one is closest to home.
A family business since 2014, run from Charlotte. There's no corporate office in another state deciding how your store works.
Our staff rotate between stores so the products stay consistent. You pick up more than one skill and more than one crew.

Questions About Working Here
Are you hiring right now?
Openings move around by store and by season. We're always interested in qualified candidates for any position, so send your resume through the form above and we'll keep it on hand.
Do I need bakery experience?
It depends on the role. Tell us what you've done and which position interests you, and we'll take it from there. Plenty of the skills here are learned on the line.
What are the hours?
Every Sunflour bakery is open 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, seven days a week. Bakers come in before the doors open, and counter and kitchen shifts run across the day. Exact shifts depend on the role and the store.
Can I apply to more than one location?
Yes. Just say so on the form and list the stores that work for you. Our team already moves between bakeries, so it isn't unusual.
Do you take on seasonal help?
The holidays are our busiest stretch of the year, from Thanksgiving through Christmas. If you're looking for seasonal work, mention it on the form.
Who do I talk to if I have a question?
Reach the bakery you're interested in directly. Elizabeth 704-900-5268, Dilworth 704-332-5222, Ballantyne 980-237-8881, Harrisburg 980-258-8000, NoDa 704-900-7305. Their addresses and hours are on the locations page.

Bakery Jobs in Charlotte, NC
Sunflour Baking Company hires bakers, cake decorators, kitchen and prep staff, counter and barista team members, catering and shipping staff, shift leads, and store managers across five bakeries in the Charlotte area: Elizabeth, Dilworth, Ballantyne, Harrisburg, and NoDa.
What Makes a Bakery Job Here Different
Most food service work in Charlotte comes with nights. Ours doesn't. Every Sunflour location opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 4:00 PM, seven days a week, which means no dinner shift and no late close. Bakers start before the doors open, and the rest of the team works across the morning and early afternoon.
The other difference is the product. We make everything onsite in small batches from raw ingredients, with no mixes, no shortcuts, and nothing pre-made. There are no artificial flavorings, preservatives, dough conditioners, or bleached flour anywhere in our kitchens. Working here means learning to bake bread, laminate dough, decorate cakes, and pull espresso properly, because none of it arrives finished on a truck.
Who We Are
Sunflour opened in Elizabeth in 2009 and the Parrish family has owned the bakery since 2014. We added Dilworth in 2016, Ballantyne and Harrisburg in 2017, and NoDa in 2023. We're a local, family owned business rather than a franchise or a chain, and our staff rotate between stores so the products and the service stay consistent everywhere.
