There are cinnamon rolls, and then there are the cinnamon rolls that take you back to early mornings in grandma’s kitchen with the warm smell of cinnamon wafting through the air and a whistling tea kettle on the stove. Those are the type of cinnamon rolls we had in mind when we created our Sunflour fresh-baked cinnamon rolls. So, what does it take to create the kind of cinnamon roll that can transport you back to a simpler time? First, you need to make sure the dough is rich, fluffy, and oh so soft. We use brioche dough for our cinnamon rolls.
Brioche dough is made using eggs, milk, and plenty of butter, making it rich, tender, and slightly more pillow-like than other yeast-based doughs. Starting with this rich, slightly sweet dough base adds an extra level of decadence to our cinnamon roll. We then add a thick layer of our special cinnamon and brown sugar mixture and roll the dough. Our cinnamon rolls are generously sized to just fit on the plate because why wouldn’t you want a bigger cinnamon roll? Once they come out of the oven, we add an extra-thick layer of cream cheese frosting because you deserve all of that luscious creamy frosting on your cinnamon roll.
